Day One in Land of The Rose: England

After 13 hours of long flight on KLM Airlines from Kuala Lumpur International Airport KUL and spending a couple of hours for the connection flight at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol AMS, we finally landed on the Birmingham BHX tarmac after on a breezy spring of Monday morning, 08th April 2013, our first ever journey to live outside of home country, Malaysia.

I have never dreamed of travelling outside my own country and have a very sceptical mindset of studying overseas as I still truly believed that local education is way better than the overseas education in many ways. Therefore, all credits would go for my wife who made this happen. She pursued her doctoral research study at the University of Warwick, Coventry. It was a little late for me in creating this blog due to unavailability of many things. Even though the publishing date of this post was on 08 April 2013, I have been updating it time and again.

Finally, touchdown at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It was still early Spring in the Europe. Our first time to witness a sunshine here before knowing that scenes like this is so precious as it always gloomy and dark during this time of season.

This is taken inside the Duty Free Shopping Area in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol while waiting for our connection flight to Birmingham, England. It was around 0600 in the morning and not many people walking around during this hour except for us and a couple of retailers opening their grocery shop. Notice the Tulips sold in bouquet and also in small boxes like fruits in the chillers. We exchanged some British Pounds with Euro Dollars and end up having some cash balance when we depart for England. The lady at the Money Changer told me to just pronounce it as Euro instead of Euro Dollar as that is the way it is known here.

A local friend from Birmingham snapped this before sending us to a hotel near the university. He told us this photo will mean so much for us as the time passes. He was right. God bless him.

We spent the first night in one of the cheap budget hotel in the City Centre. It was Monday around 1930 hours and it is hardly to notice anyone walking around anymore during this hour. All the shops like the Primark shown in the photo were already closed by 1830 hours following their Winter to Spring short opening times

Since we're already moved back home for the past two months, I will try to put more updates daily or at least weekly on all the good and bad things that we wanted to share. All our photos really helped in writing down all this events as our guide more like visual diary and hope everyone's had a good time reading the updates. Do drop any comments, suggestions or even questions as they're all will be much appreciated. Enjoy.
